As part of our Engineering team of Operations specialists, the Database Administrator will provide ongoing support and maintenance to our Cloud Database environments, network team members and authorized contractors to ensure a reliable, secure and high performing solution. Songtrust uses Microsoft SQL Server and PostgreSQL for data storage and retrieval.
What you’ll do:
- Proactive maintenance of database systems to ensure integrity, safety, and optimal performance
- Manage database systems, users and security per prescribed processes at a large scale
- Modify the database structures and processes, as necessary, from information given by application developers, per standard deployment processes
- Perform database disaster recovery and database corruption tasks while working with technical staff
- Monitor and manage database resource capacity
- Work with server engineers on performance issues that may be subsystem-related
- Deploy SQL Servers per prescribed processes
- Automate routine tasks that follow prescribed standards
- Communicate regularly with technical, applications and operational staff to ensure database integrity and security
- Maintain and monitor alerts for database monitoring
- Work with infrastructure to construct and improve database monitoring and alerting capabilities
- Maintain and enhance existing database security and database user security
- Work with database vendors to resolve technical support issues
- Perform database tuning and optimization
- Insure the integrity, security, and performance of database systems
- Ensure that database systems storage and archiving procedures are functioning correctly
- Troubleshoot and resolve various database related problems per standards
- Maintain, enhance, and collaborate appropriate documentation and standards
- Stay current with changes in the field, especially regarding data database administration
- Find, document, and inform of database anomalies and non-standard functionality or configurations
- Maintain the integrity and security of archived data and data at rest per standard processes
- Install and upgrade the database servers and application tools
- Allocate system storage and plan storage requirements for the database environment
- Control and monitor user access to the database systems, per standards
- Monitor and optimize performance of database systems
- Manage and monitor data replication
- Deploy QA changes to production database systems. (Dev -> QA -> Production)
You are / have:
- 5+ years of professional DBA experience
- Microsoft SQL Server experience
- PostgreSQL experience
- Experience with Cloud computing technologies is desirable, but not required
- Significant analytical, critical thinking, trouble-shooting, and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated track record of working effectively within a collaborative and cohesive team-based environment
- Organizational skills
- Capability to handle a variety of time-critical situations and identify prioritization
- Ability to multi-task effectively and to meet assigned deadlines
- Ability to work well independently and in teams
- Ability to work urgently to resolve service interruptions that are important to customers
