peermusic Neighbouring Rights (NR) specializes in collecting royalties for performers and record producers worldwide, predominantly arising from neighbouring rights. These rights accrue to performers and record producers when music recordings to which they’ve contributed, or financed the production of, are played in public.
Peermusic NR represents a diverse range of artists and record producers, spanning numerous genres and cultures. For our office in Amsterdam peermusic NR is looking for a Copyright Ownership Resolution Specialist.
About the role
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Copyright Ownership Resolution Specialist to join our team and take charge of resolving disputes related to copyright ownership on a large scale. In this role, you will be responsible for investigating, mediating, and resolving conflicts arising from double claims to copyrighted works, particularly focusing on sounds recordings managed and represented by peermusic Neighbouring Rights. Besides this you will also be involved in registering catalogue information from our performers and record labels at neighbouring rights collecting societies.
Responsibilities
- Investigate Copyright Claims: Conduct thorough investigations into competing claims of ownership for copyrighted music recordings, analyzing contracts, agreements, licensing documentation, and other relevant materials to determine the validity of each claim.
- Liaison with Stakeholders: Serve as the primary point of contact for all parties involved in copyright ownership disputes, record companies, artists, legal representatives, and other stakeholders. Communicate effectively to gather information, address concerns, and facilitate negotiations.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain detailed records of all copyright ownership disputes, correspondence, agreements, and resolutions. Generate comprehensive reports to track the progress of cases, identify trends, and provide insights for process improvement.
- Stakeholder Education: Provide guidance and education to stakeholders on copyright ownership issues, rights management, and best practices for resolving disputes.
- Register new recordings at neighbouring rights CMO’s
Requirements
- You have a relevant degree, at least MBO/HBO level
- You can work independently
- You work efficiently and with a high-level of accuracy whilst maintaining an overview
- You have excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
- Analytical mindset with exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
- You are flexible, self-motivated, and highly organized with a “can-do” mentality
- You have excellent verbal and written skills in English and preferable Dutch or French
- You are available on a full-time basis
- Familiarity with the operations of music licensing organizations is highly desirable.
