Y Royalties started out as the Royalties division at Award Winning Accountancy firm, CC Young & Co, which celebrates its 25th Year in the Music Industry this year. The success of this division along with our knowledge and experience gained over the 25 years has enabled the birth of Y Royalties.
In 2020 we invested heavily in our tech, servers and databases. Our data warehouse now allows us to research trends and patterns that can highlight anomalies in our client’s royalty income, create models for our auditing team, and forecast growth/decay profiles in our catalogue valuations.
We are seeking a Head of Rights Management to join the Neighbouring Rights Team.
JOB TITLE: Head of Rights Management | DEPARTMENT: Neighbouring Rights Team | SALARY: Competitive
Main Purpose of Job
- To head up the rights management team in order to provide copyright compliance services to Y Royalties clients.
- To lead the direction of royalty collections for all clients to include publishing and neighbouring rights administration.
- Responsible for overseeing artist / writer registration and track / song registration with CMOs and PROs.
- To contribute to royalty tracking procedures for all clients, to be co-ordinated with the royalty audit team.
- To ensure effective and proactive management of high profile clients’ repertoire registration and collection with the appropriate collecting societies.
- To oversee the administration and workflow of the rights management team; to include allocation of projects, tracking budgets and time management.
- To assist the Director with ad hoc projects that may arise.
Skills & Qualifications Required:
- Working knowledge of recording and publishing companies and collection societies;
- Ability to interpret agreements; and
- 5 years+ working at a relevant music industry business. Desirable
- A passion for music royalties and knowledge of publishing and recording income
- Previous working experience in music royalties
Knowledge and Attitudes and Behaviours Required
- Good Knowledge of Microsoft Office, with a primary focus on Word and Outlook;
- Ability to multi-task;

- Some knowledge of Counterpoint Record Maestro or similar royalties software;
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel;
- Ability to produce royalty statements to an acceptable standard; to include:
- Correct rates and deductions
- Appropriate presentation
- General understanding of work undertaken by and issues concerning all C.C. Young & Co. departments (Personal Tax, Corporation Tax, Royalties & Audit, and Company Secretarial).
- Ability to prioritise workload;
- Ability to work to deadlines and produce accurate work whilst under pressure;
- Ability to effectively communicate with colleagues and clients:
- Client Meetings (e.g. presenting result to management, communication with lawyers etc)
- Telephone Conversations
- Structured Written Correspondence (e-mails / letters), which may cover several distinct but related issues.
- Ability to use time in the office efficiently in order to achieve maximum level of productivity;
- Awareness of chargeable time and;
- Ability to work to a budget.
