Songtrust is looking for a System Engineer to assist the Technical Operations team with maintaining and monitoring the hosted environment, under the direction of the Head of Engineering. The Technical Operations team is responsible for the hosted environments, new server instance builds, cloud networking, client user interface, customer-facing web e-commerce, and other web-related services. This role is a work-from-home position and is based in North America.
Cloud Services, System Administrator Responsibilities:
- Administer Linux and Windows servers, and related applications, to provide a responsive, highly available and consistent computing environment.
- Utilize AWS automation to deploy infrastructure as code.
- Maintain and monitor automated systems for patching Linux and Windows servers.
- Configure and maintain monitoring and alerting systems, such as DataDog.
- Apply operating system (OS) and security patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities.
- Build, configure, monitor, and maintain environments deployed via Amazon Web Services (AWS).
- Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all cloud instances, server resources, systems, and key processes.
- Manage and maintain periodic data backups for servers, and network infrastructure. Druva CloudRanger is the primary backup tool.
- Create, update, and audit documentation as required.
- Participate in On-Call rotation including periodic over-nights and weekends.
- Serve as an escalation point for Songtrust monitoring and alerting.
You are / have:
- 6+ years professional experience as a DevOps / Systems Administrator or Engineer
- Thorough knowledge of Windows Server and Ubuntu Linux.
- AWS infrastructure as service eg. EC2, RDS, ALB, VPC.
- AWS automation via CloudFormation. (Preferred)
- Working knowledge of enterprise monitoring applications with a preference of NewRelic, Data Dog, and Splunk.
- Familiarity with ITIL/ITSM processes such as Change Management, Incident Management, Lifecycle Management, and Capacity Management.
- Clear and concise oral and written communication to all levels of the organization.
- Ability to work on and prioritize a wide variety of complicated tasks and projects simultaneously.
- Works independently and as a team member in a high performance environment
- Effectively collaborates with peers, cross-functional teams and team leaders to achieve end-to-end product and process quality
- Exercises discretion and judgment to ensure all operational service levels and security standards are met
- Strong Analytical and problem–solving skills
