This position will preferably be located in New York.
What you’ll do:
- Work closely with the Senior Manager, Corporate Development on all financial aspects and execution of Downtown’s advance-based transactions. This includes, but is not limited to: publishing administration deals, sound recording distribution deals, and YouTube monetization deals. Key aspects of each deal include project management, forecasting, IRR analysis, transaction diligence, and deal structuring
- Support the broader Corporate Development team with strategic M&A, equity investments, and joint venture analysis / deal execution
- Gathering and consolidating large amounts of disparate data to produce actionable insight
- Various ad-hoc projects and portfolio company work
- Learn and utilize software such as MRC, Soundcharts, and Power BI to assist in data analysis
- Develop tools and methodologies for forecasting future royalty flows
- Present analyses and conclusions to senior management
After 3 months you’ll have:
- A keen understanding of Downtown’s corporate structure including its various portfolio companies and financing facilities
- Undergone training on basic publishing / masters deal structures, Downtown’s transaction process, royalty forecasting, and financial models
- Worked on several live transactions
- Ownership of consolidating royalty statements on new potential publishing/masters transactions
You are / have:
- 2+ years of experience in music transactions, investment banking, finance, corporate development, or a similar field
- A strong interest in a long-term career within the music industry
- Proven excellence in financial modeling and a strong understanding of cashflow modeling
- Self-starter with the ability to handle complexity in a fast-paced environment
- Exceptional attention to detail and project management skills
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills
- Ability to analyze large, complex datasets and model into useful analyses
- Willing to work flexible hours based on the cadence of live transactions
